SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY: 10 young & brilliant minds awarded Rs 25 lakh for innovative ideas

Mobile technology giant vivo aims to promote problem-solving abilities among young minds through vivo Ignite initiative that was open to all Indian students of grades 8 to 12

vivo, the global smartphone brand, announced the national winners of its country-wide initiative - vivo Ignite (science and innovation awards) at The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, in the presence of chief guest Rajendra Prasad Singh, Chief Scientist and Head, IMD at CSIR, Ministry of Science & Technology, stated a press release issued by Archetype.

The top 10 students out of 25 national finalists who presented the most scientifically innovative and socially relevant projects were declared national winners and awarded a trophy, a certificate, along with cash prizes ranging from Rs 5,00,000 to Rs 75,000.

The initiative was open to all Indian students of grades 8 to 12 and conducted in three stages between September 2022 to February 2023, where students submitted their ideas along with a synopsis.

Over 1,000 entries were received from across the country. The top 25 students battled it out at the grand finale, wherein they displayed their projects and were judged based on their creative thinking, innovation, use of science and technology, and potential to make a positive social impact.

The winning projects included:

  1. Early Detection Of Vocal Disorders Using Voice Analysis & Machine Learning.

  2. Converting Mold To Gold (Community Garbage Disintegrator).

  3. FWWA - Food and Water Wealth for Animals.

  4. Bloodice – Bluetooth-Enabled Blood Testing Device.

  5. Squirrel-Based Rescue Robots For Remote Places & Natural Disasters in Concept Category and MARIMO - Eco-Friendly Mechanism To Clean Oil Spills.

  6. Driver Drowsiness Detection System to Prevent Road Accidents.

  7. G-LED: Reusable LED Bulbs & Tubes With Replaceable LED Cartridge.

  8. Detecting Air Pollution Levels using Machine Learning on Plant Leaves.

  9. Valuable Trash - Using Advanced AI To Recycle & Upcycle Waste in Prototype Category.
